SAINT GEORGE’S ANNUAL OYSTER ROAST

 

Saint George’s Episcopal Church in Anderson, South Carolina, has held an Oyster Roast annually for the past 18 years. It has been the major community outreach event for the church and is a huge labor of love requiring most of the parishioners and many of their children and friends.

During the early years of this event, the activities were held outside on the church grounds. But as the event grew in popularity, the Oyster Roast moved inside to the Anderson County Fair Grounds Pavilion.  More than 800 people from near and far each year buy tickets and attend this memorable and fun event.

All of the profits have been donated to charity. To date over $100,000 has been given to more than 30 local organizations.

Next year’s Oyster Roast will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at the Anderson County Fair Grounds.
